Recientemente, he pasado algunos días libres (sin exámenes parciales ni trabajo por una semana de vacaciones en el lindo colegio) pasando por todos lados con Anna, Gianella, y Angela, pensando en manualidades nuevos para los niños en el colegio, estudiando, visitando cafés, planeando una semana especial en nuestro colegio con instrucción de algunas hijas de Cristo que me dan inspiración, y leyendo un libro especial (en mis manos por mi amiga Hannah P, quien me da muchos de mis libros favoritos):
Recently, I’ve been passing a few free days (without midterms or work for a week– due to a week of vacation at the lovely middle school) discovering all parts of Arequipa with Anna, Gianella, and Angela, thinking in new activities and crafts for the students in the school, visiting cafes, planning a special week in our school with instruction from some daughters of Christ who give me inspiration, and reading a particularly special book (in my hands via my friend, Hannah P, who gives me many of my favorite books):

«The peace of a good conscience does not always exclude those troubles which are occasioned by temptations and interior trials; but in all the storms which arise, it keeps the heart submissive and faithful to God; submissive in suffering pain, and faithful in not yielding under it, but in resisting, in fighting, and in neglecting nothing on account of it. Thus it is that a suffering and submissive soul is, according to the royal Prophet (Jesus), an acceptable sacrifice to God, who never rejects a contrite and humble heart, humble from the experience of its own miseries, and contrite for having given cause to God to oblige it to experience them. «La paz de una buena conciencia no siempre se excluyen aquellos problemas que se ocasionaron por las tentaciones y pruebas interiores; pero en todos los tormentos que llegan, se mantiene el corazón sumiso y fiel a Dios– sumiso en sufriendo dolores, y fiel en no ceder bajo a el, pero en la resistencia, en la lucha, y al descuidar nada a causa de la misma. Así es que el alma sumiso es, con la practica de sufrimiento, según la Profeta Real (Jesús), un sacrificio aceptable a Dios, quien nunca lo rechaza un corazón contrito y humilde, humilde de la experiencia de sus propias miserias, y contrito por haber dado la causa a Dios para obligarle a experimentarlos. Thou knowest, O Lord, how many sinful alllurements, interior trials, and dangers we are exposed, both from natural and violent inclinations to evil, our unceasing repugnance to good, and the assaults of temptation. How shall we be able to resist so many and such powerful enemies, bent as they are upon our destruction, if Thou in Thy bounty assist us not? It is to Thee we raise up our hearts and our minds, it is to Thee we look for succor to keep us from yielding to temptation, to deliver us from the greatest of all evils, sin, and to preserve us from perishing everlastingly. Tú sabes, Señor, ¿Cuántas tentaciones pecaminosas, pruebas interiores, y los peligros que están expuestos, tanto de las inclinaciones naturales y violentos para mal, nuestra repugnancia incesante al bien, y los asaltos de la tentación. ¿Cómo vamos a ser capaces de resistir a tantos y tan poderosos enemigos, doblada ya como están sobre nuestra destrucción, si tú en tu generosidad no nos ayudan?
